Dax keeps us constantly amused with his quirky, unsuspecting dry, yet funny, personality! He is an incessant parrot these days. If Tate does it, he tries it. If Tate says it, he attempts to say it. He is talking quiet a bit more, however, some of it still needs a bit of interpretation. =) Here are some of his words:
Yo-eee (Horsey)
Oooooh-K said in a long, rather "Eeorish" type way - this is because he learned it from Tate and Tate says it like that in response to me telling him to do something. i.e. Tate get in there and pick up the toys. Ooooh-K Mama.
He says Yes M'am and tank you =)
He's also working on saying "more milk" instead of his grunt and point combo he's done for a while now.
He also says "Peeeeese" for please. Particularly when he wants his juice
Book is among our list of words and rodeo. Although, rodeo is one that usually needs some interpretation. We are also big "yeeeeee-haaaa" sayers! Banana, hot dog, apple and cracker are common food requests.
These are just a few of his regular words. And like I said, he will attempt most anything, especially if Tate says it.
He is rather impatient and also quiet explosive in his fits at times. =] ={ Dax is very independent and wants to attempt and/or do pretty much everything himself. He no longer wants to sit in the booster chair at the table. I suspect it's babyish. He insists on putting on his own shoes. And he is getting pretty good at taking up for himself. =O It is not unusual to see him attacking Tate with a lot of volume and gusto as he flails his arms and/or pulls Tate's hair all while yelling MIIIII (mine) or NOOOOO. I must admit that we find it hard not to find humor in these attacks as we have been warning Tate for a while now that one day Dax is going to "get you" if you don't stop being ugly to him. Of course we don't encourage the retaliation nor do we let it continue, but it IS funny none the less.
With that in mind though, it is important to add that he and Tate play together often these days. They usually have on their cowboy hats and their bandanas and can be found playing rodeo with the rocking spring horse or playing with their new collection of buckin' bulls and horses and cowboys. They also play with their construction toys and their little hot wheel cars quiet a bit. Dax tends to drive the cars and make car sounds more than Tate does. Tate is more likely to just collect and haul things. Sharing is a struggle that I get rather tired of refereeing but we are working on it.... =|
All in all, they do play pretty well together.
Dax continues to be a BIG eater!!! He esp loves spaghetti or other pasta type dishes with spaghetti sauce. And he's a big fan of cheese and yogurt. He only gets those in moderation because of system problems. ;-)
Dax is much more prone to just sit with us and hug on us or pat us while holding his baby or chewing on it, which is his M.O. He continues to be slow to warm up to strangers and sometimes even people he's familiar with. I tell people he has to study them first. =} He's kinda like his Mama in a lot of ways.
He's tons of fun! Very expressive with his face. haha. It's quiet hard to believe that in 4 months he'll be two years old!
Dax! A big thumbs up! (his latest accomplishment taught to him by Tate)
